story of a really great weekend!

on Friday evening Liz and i schlepped down to the East Village for a UCB show put on by some of the writers from the blog, Hello Giggles. it was a lot of fun - there were about six different writers and they each got up and read a short story they’d written. most about something awkward or terrible that had happened in their life, in a lighthearted way, of course, and most of them were hysterical. in the meantime, my husband was hanging out with guitarist friends who now live in his old apartment and scarfing down pastrami, egg & cheese sandwiches at 11 o’clock at night. i met up with him after my show and we splurged to take a cab home. c’mon big money!

saturday we woke up to a lovely snowfall that had blanketed the city. everything was quiet and calm and so peaceful. i really love when it snows here. of course, i only actually love it when it’s a weekend and i don’t have to get out in it but can instead watch it admiringly from my apartment windows. clif, unfortunately, did have to get out in it for a bit. he teaches up in the Bronx on Saturday’s and I was really hoping they’d just call that morning and cancel all the lessons. that would be too easy though, so Clif trekked up there and of course only had like three students show up. he got to come back home early though, which was a treat for me to have my husband home on a saturday afternoon! around 2 i got a text from my friend Lauren Ross (L1) that said she was randomly in our neighborhood. so she came by and got to finally meet FreddyCat. she stayed a bit to visit and it was a fun treat to see her face so unexpectedly. later that day, after watching some episodes of 30 Rock and napping, we decided, let’s discuss what we should eat for dinner. we talked about a few nicer places that we could go to but ultimately we both decided that our favorite option was walking to our local Wendy’s. so we bundled up but didn’t bother to dress up at all, walked the five blocks there, ordered some spicy chicken sandwiches and fries and took up residence at the most private table we could find. it was a nice date, i have to say ;) later that night we watched an old movie and fell asleep early. and that’s how i had one of the most low-key, best saturday’s ever!

another big ticket item over here is the news that Clif will no longer be working at J.Crew after this week. we are both so excited about this fact and have been hoping for this day to come for a while now! to celebrate (and also to capitalize on our last chance to use his discount) we headed over to the Rockafeller plaza J.Crew last night and bought a few things. employees get a huge discount on sale items and on occasion this huge discount happens to be 75% off the already-marked-down sale price. ok, don’t come and hunt me down or anything, because i know that’s insanely awesome (!!)… this is the ONLY REASON why sometimes (a lot of times) i am wearing J.Crew. anyway, one last hurrah and that was FUN!

church last night was great - three of our friends (Rebekah, Leah & Kris) joined us and we took up a whole pew. i love that feeling of looking down the whole row and knowing everyone there. the sermon was wonderful and we all visited and ate some cookies afterward. i love ending my weekends with the Redeemer community.

the weekend as a whole was completely awesome and restful and full of seeing good friends. the snow has now turned to a brown, muddy slop-fest and obviously Monday has rolled back around. but i know all good things must come to an end, so until next weekend…
